CONNECT WITH AN ORGANIZATION

Make a list of organizations in your community that could benefit from an easy Avon fundraiser. Your child’s school or sports team, religious groups, etc. We’ve got all the tools you need to make your pitch and get started.

MARKET YOUR EXPERTISE

Spread the Word

Make a list of the organizations with which you are personally involved: your church, your children’s schools and sports teams, for example. Contact the person in charge and always mention that you and your family are members of the organization. Use our flyer inserts in every brochure you distribute or post our bulletin board flyers at schools, community centers, supermarkets, and other places in your neighborhood.

Make the Right Connections

Many organizations have a fundraising committee or chairperson, who makes final decisions on which fundraiser to use. Use the suggested phone script (Script 1 + Script 2, + Script 3) to help you identify the correct person. Always have your contact worksheet ready to write down additional information gathered from your first call. Before you contact the chairperson, make sure to decide what percentage of profits the organization will receive. Use the Organization Earnings Opportunity Chart and ask your Upline Representative for guidance. Once you have the name of the person in charge of fundraising, you can either phone that person directly, send a brief e-mail, or mail a letter and flyer. Don’t forget to follow-up! Use our introductory letters (Letter 1 + Letter 2) to craft a personalized message to your contact.

With typical fundraisers, most people will buy only one candy bar or T-shirt. Avon offers a variety of products for everyone.

CUTTING-EDGE PRODUCTS

Avon’s reputation for top-quality products opens doors and makes selling simple. Select from assorted personal care, makeup, and fragrance items.

 

Earnings potential

The organization’s earnings should be determined by actual sales. If a group sells $1,500, suggested earnings could be 40%. On sales of less than $1,500, suggested earnings could be 30%. Use the Organization Earnings Opportunity Charts to illustrate the potential profit for the organization.

Address All Costs

Some Representatives prefer to take a higher percentage of the profits and pay for fundraising materials themselves. Others prefer to take a lower percentage and have the organization pay for the participants’ materials and delivery bags. If the organization is exempt from sales tax, Avon will need a copy of the Sales Tax Exempt Certificate. If not, fundraising participants must collect the appropriate sales tax.

Timing & Organization Participation

Other things to determine with the organization include:

  • Fundraiser start dates (include the kick-off/launch meeting).
  • Fundraiser coordinators (you’ll need approximately one coordinator for every 20 to 30 participants).
  • Fundraiser duration.
  • Order due dates.
  • Expected delivery dates and payment to you.
  • Who will help package the orders?

 

Prize Programs

Some vendors, especially those that target schools, have prize programs built into their fundraisers. These may look attractive, but the prizes are NOT free. The cost of prizes is built into the cost of the products. Avon FundRaising programs do not have an automatic prize program. You offer great products at fabulous prices. If an organization feels that a prize program is necessary, you have two options:

  • AVON PRIZES: Look in the brochure or other communications pieces like the Avon Outlet for sale items to use as low-cost prizes. You can sell them to the organization at your cost, or at a small mark up. Also, when you take advantage of instant delivery and stock-up programs, you can use free products and incentive cash to pay for the cost of the prizes.
  • LOCAL DONATIONS: The organization can develop its own tiered prize program. For example, the top two or three sellers receive the top prize (such as video games, bikes, digital cameras). The top team (the class/grade with the highest sales) receives a group prize such as a pizza party. Pizza and refreshments can be donated locally. IMPORTANT: With prize programs, always remember to negotiate the cost of the prizes up front and deduct their cost from the organization’s earnings.

REGISTER YOUR FUNDRAISER

Please fill out the form in order to register your Avon fundraiser. Then call the Fundraiser desk at 1-888-564-2866 for instructions on submitting your tax certificate. This step is required in order for you to receive a tax credit. For details regarding tax exemptions and the required documentation, refer to the Tax Exemption Info for Organization resource.

Representatives receive guaranteed 50% earnings and priority consideration on all registered fundraisers conducted through the approved Fundraising Flyers available on YourAvon.com. Conducting full brochure fundraisers is not recommended as we cannot guarantee 50% earnings or product availability.

Process your fundraiser order as “ship separate” adding product number 045-642. This will ensure that your order is identified properly. Traditional brochure orders should be placed separately.
